Welcome to The Happy Hunt. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience while using our app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address provided by that service. This information is necessary to create and manage your account.

2.2 User-Provided Content

We store the venue submissions, happy hour information, favorites, saved bar crawls, and verification reports you create. This may include venue names, addresses, locations, deal descriptions, time windows, optional menu photos, and notes about whether information is up to date. This data is stored securely and is associated with your account.

2.3 Display Name and Public Profile

You can set a display name in Settings. By default, your submissions and verifications are shown publicly as "User XXXX" using a portion of your account ID. If you toggle "Show my name publicly", your display name will appear instead. This is opt-in and can be changed at any time.

2.4 Location Information

The app requests your location to show nearby happy hours. You can use the app without granting location permission — you can manually search for any city. We do not track your location continuously or in the background. Your location is used in-app only and is not stored on our servers.

2.5 Subscription Information

If you subscribe to Happy Hunt Pro, your subscription status and purchase information are managed by RevenueCat. We do not store your payment details directly — all payment processing is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store.

2.6 Usage Information

We may collect basic information about how you interact with the app, including features you use, crash reports, and app version. This helps us improve the app experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Display nearby happy hours and venues
• Process your subscription and in-app purchases
• Sync your data securely across your devices
• Moderate user-submitted content for accuracy and appropriateness
• Respond to your comments and questions

4. What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your personal information to anyone
• We do not share your data with advertisers
• We do not track your location in the background
• We do not access your contacts, photos (beyond ones you explicitly share), or messages

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, which provides industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With your explicit consent
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights and safety
• With service providers who assist in operating our app (e.g., Firebase, RevenueCat)

7. Third-Party Services

Our app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:

• Firebase Authentication — for user authentication and account management
• Firebase Firestore — for secure cloud data storage and cross-device sync
• Firebase Storage — for menu photos and venue images
• RevenueCat — for managing subscriptions and in-app purchases
• Apple Maps / Google Maps — for displaying venue locations

8. Public Information

Some information you provide is visible to other users of the app:

• Venues you submit that get approved appear publicly
• Verifications you make on venues count toward your public stats
• Your display name appears with your submissions IF you toggle "Show my name publicly" in Settings. Otherwise, you are shown as "User XXXX"

Email addresses, account creation dates, and personal details are never shown publicly.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Opt out of public display name sharing

10. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Approved venue submissions may remain in the app as community content but will be anonymized.

11. Age Requirement

The app is intended for users 21 years of age and older, in keeping with U.S. alcohol laws. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 17 (the minimum age permitted for apps featuring alcohol references). The app is rated 17+ for that reason.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
