It really is NONE of your business what women eat.
Honestly this stuff makes me so cross. Weather we are pregnant or not. How we nurture our bodies, and honour it’s needs, are totally up to us. So you eat for 2, or even 6, when you are pregnant. So what?
Everyone’s bodies respond differently to pregnancy, and some will pile on the pounds even though not eating much more.
Judging women is judging women. It’s not nice, and what they are doing is none of your business. Judging a pregnant woman is about as crappyas it gets.
Many of them are tired, worried about their jobs, pelvic floor, mortgages, and hungry. They are most likely just doing their best.
Let’s not pretend it is all about the good of the mother and baby. Unless you really are eating 6 MacDonald’s a day it probably isn’t. It is about being kept in line with nonsense patronising fear mongering and doing what we are told is best for us, in case we dare decide what is best for ourselves.
A pregnant woman really should just be supported. No matter what her weight, eating habits, plans for her post baby body, or her elected c-section for that matter.
It’s her body and she can eat how much she bloody well wants.
Why do these judgemental and patronising articles come up time and time again? Why do these experts get to dictate not only how some of our midwives talk to us, but also how we feel about the food we eat when we are supporting our bodies to make a baby?
Is it better to be hungry and miserable? In case you put on a few pounds more than some research somewhere says is the optimum for baby making…
IT MAKES ME SO CROSS.
Peace and love and all that – I am off to eat a biscuit.
